Australian wine
Australian wine for importers, retailers and hospitality groups
Shiiv Imports sources Australian wine for importers, retailers and hospitality groups overseas: mixed containers across several wineries, buyer-owned brands and private label, bottled in Australia or shipped in bulk. Every wine shipment over 100 litres needs a Wine Australia export licence, product and label registration and a shipping approval, which we confirm before any order.
What we source
- Mixed containers from several Australian wineries for one importer.
- Buyer-owned and private label brands, bottled in Australia.
- Bulk wine for bottling in your market.
- House wines for hotel and restaurant groups.
Who briefs us for wine
- Importers and distributors building a portfolio.
- Retailers wanting their own labels.
- Hotel and restaurant groups wanting house wines.
Markets
Shiiv Imports already sources for international clients across Asia (China, Thailand, Vietnam and India), the Pacific (Fiji and Vanuatu), the Middle East (Dubai), the USA and Europe. We quote Australian wine to importers in these markets and beyond. Singapore, Thailand, Canada and India are markets where buyers brief Australian wine. Beverage tariffs in Fiji are very high, so wine is not the lead category for Fiji. Grocery, dairy and grain lead there. See Pacific Islands supply: https://www.shiivimports.com.au/export/pacific-islands-supply. Buyers in India claim AI-ECTA preferential rates with a Certificate of Origin.
Wine Australia export approval, step by step
- Licence to export grape products.
- Product registration.
- Label registration.
- Shipping approval for each shipment over 100 litres (aggregation rules apply to smaller shipments).
How the approval is lodged
These run through Wine Australia's licensing system (WALAS). The shipping application goes in at least five days before export, and product approval is specific to the exporter, so each wine is registered by the exporter that ships it, or the approval holder gives that exporter written permission to ship it (Wine Australia: https://www.wineaustralia.com/selling/exporting-wine). Exported wine must also meet the Food Standards Code unless Wine Australia grants an exemption. Your market's own label and import rules apply on top.
Private label wine
Your label on Australian wine, with brand clearance in your market before bottling. Region and variety wording is stated per wine, with the winery's records on file. See private label with Australian manufacturers: https://www.shiivimports.com.au/export/private-label-australian-manufacturers
Responsible service
Alcohol is supplied only to licensed importers, in line with each market's rules.

Questions importers ask
What licence is needed to export wine from Australia?
Any wine shipment over 100 litres needs a Wine Australia export licence, registration of the product and its label, and a shipping approval for that shipment. Exporting without them is an offence under the Wine Australia Act 2013.
What is the minimum order for private label wine?
Minimums are set per winery, wine and pack format, so we quote them with the brief rather than publish a single figure. Mixed containers across several wineries help keep each line practical.
Can I buy Australian wine in bulk and bottle it in my market?
Yes, where your market allows it. Bulk wine still needs Wine Australia export approval, and the label you apply must meet your market's rules.
Can you build a mixed container from several wineries?
Yes. We consolidate wines from several Australian wineries into one container for one importer, each with its own registrations and approvals.
Can wine ship in the same container as food?
Often yes, subject to your market's alcohol import licensing and the importer's permits. We confirm before loading.
Does AI-ECTA reduce tariffs on Australian wine?
AI-ECTA gives preferential tariff treatment to qualifying Australian wine, claimed with a preferential Certificate of Origin from a recognised issuing body. Your customs broker confirms the current rate for your price point and tariff line before you order.
