What Pacific buyers brief
Lead categories are grocery and pantry lines, private label groceries, UHT milk, cheese and butter, flour and bagged wheat, then canola oil in retail and foodservice packs, frozen and processed vegetables, and nuts and snacks. Beverage tariffs in Fiji are very high, so wine and other beverages are not the lead categories for Fiji. Supplements for pharmacy retail are quoted on brief.
Consolidated loads for island volumes
Pacific orders are often smaller than a full container of one line. We consolidate several suppliers into one mixed dry container, and arrange part or shared reefer space for dairy and frozen goods where available.
Trade agreements: Fiji and Vanuatu differ
PACER Plus has been in force since 13 December 2020. Vanuatu has been a party since 11 October 2022. Fiji is not a party. Australian goods into Fiji are not covered by that agreement. Tariff treatment and origin documents differ between the two. We check the applicable arrangement and the documents your importer needs for each quote. Shipping to Suva, Lautoka and Port Vila
Sailings to Pacific ports are less frequent than to Asian hubs, and some routes tranship. We confirm sailing schedules and transit with the forwarder for each quote, and plan around the cyclone season with you. We do not promise delivery dates we do not control.
Documents and import rules
On the Australian side we check MICoR (https://micor.agriculture.gov.au) for each product and coordinate permits and certificates for prescribed goods such as dairy, wheat, barley and fresh produce. On your side, Fiji and Vanuatu set their own biosecurity and import permit rules, particularly for dairy, meat-containing products and fresh produce; we confirm them with you before quoting.
